Why PPF here

Michigan roads are hard on paint.

  1. Winter salt and sand. Brine and grit blast the front end all winter, and every chip that breaks through the clear coat is a place for rust to start.
  2. Gravel and construction season. US-131, M-6 and the backroads to the lakeshore throw stones at your hood and bumper all summer.
  3. Bugs, tar and bird droppings. XPEL film resists staining, so they wash off without etching the paint underneath.

Wax and ceramic coating add shine, but they're too thin to stop a rock. Paint protection film is a thick urethane layer that takes the hit so your paint doesn't. PPF vs. ceramic coating, compared.

Try it: scratch the panel. XPEL Ultimate Plus has a self-healing top coat. Light swirls and scratches from car washes disappear with heat from the sun or warm water.

Ask for Mark. Our customers do.

Reviews for Great Lakes Clear Bra mention Mark by name, again and again. Before any film goes on, he walks you through what's covered, flags anything on the paint he's concerned about, and checks every edge with you before you drive off.

We're an XPEL Certified installer, which means XPEL-trained installs, access to XPEL's vehicle-specific patterns, and film backed by XPEL's manufacturer warranty. We install indoors, in a clean, lit bay inside Aaltech Automotive Service in Kentwood, not in a parking lot or a driveway.

Mark has been installing paint protection film for more than 10 years, and he still loves it: the work, the cars, and taking care of the people who bring them in.

“He even went out of his way to take me back home at drop off and pick me up when the job was done.”

Four steps, about two days.

  1. Get a quote

Send us your year, make and model and the coverage you want, or call. Consultations are free, and we'll tell you honestly what's worth covering.

  2. Drop it off

Bring the car to us inside Aaltech Automotive Service, 3663 Broadmoor Ave SE in Kentwood. We inspect the paint with you before we start.

  3. Prep and install

The paint is cleaned and decontaminated, then the film is laid panel by panel, with edges wrapped where the panel allows. Most installs take 1 to 2 days.

  4. Pick it up

We walk the car with you. Give the film 72 hours to bond before the first wash, then go put some miles on it.

FAQ

Straight answers about clear bra.

Have a question that isn't here? Call Mark at (616) 577-8804, or see all resources.

How much does paint protection film cost?

It depends on the vehicle and how much you cover. A partial front costs a fraction of a full vehicle, and a compact car takes less film than a full-size truck. We quote every vehicle individually and the consultation is free. See what drives the price in our clear bra cost guide.

How long does the install take?

Most installs take 1 to 2 days, depending on the vehicle and the coverage. A partial front is quicker; a full vehicle takes longer.

How is PPF different from wax or ceramic coating?

Wax and ceramic coatings add shine and make washing easier, but they're too thin to stop a rock chip. PPF is a thick urethane film that absorbs impacts from stones, gravel and road debris, and its top coat heals light scratches. Full comparison.

Will the film turn yellow?

No. XPEL film has UV inhibitors built in to resist yellowing, and it's covered by XPEL's manufacturer warranty against yellowing, staining, cracking, blistering and delaminating.

When can I wash my car?

Wait at least 72 hours so the film can fully bond to the paint. After that, wash it like you normally would.

Can it be removed without hurting the paint?

Yes. On factory paint, XPEL film comes off cleanly, even years later, when it's removed by a professional.

Is it only worth it on expensive cars?

No. We protect daily drivers, work trucks and RVs as well as sports cars. Anything you plan to keep, trade in or resell benefits from chip-free original paint.

Do you do trucks, Jeeps and RVs?

Yes: trucks, Jeeps, motorcycles, RVs and motorcoaches. On an RV, the front cap and lower panels take the most abuse, and that's where film pays for itself. RV & motorcoach PPF.

Do you have matte film?

Yes. XPEL Stealth protects factory matte paint without adding shine. It can also give gloss paint a satin look. More on matte PPF.

Where are you, and what areas do you serve?

We're inside Aaltech Automotive Service at 3663 Broadmoor Ave SE in Kentwood, just southeast of downtown Grand Rapids. Customers come from Grand Rapids, Kentwood, Wyoming, Cascade, Caledonia and Byron Center, and from as far as the lakeshore and out of state.
